How To Get Perfect Family Pictures On Vacation

Family photos on vacation don’t have to be a nightmare! They can actually be as relaxed and enjoyable as the pictures make you seem.

Plus your photos are one of the ONLY things of your vacation that will last forever. And definitely the most treasured for years to come (no hard feelings… I <3 NY t-shirt  and tiny Eiffel Tower…)

But family photos are so hard normally? How can you get perfect family travel photos even easier on vacation??

This post about how to get the perfect family photos on vacation contain affiliate links, meaning that I get a commission when you book your first session using my link. Using this link helps support me in this blog and is makes me want to hug you!

I love photography! As a newlywed I used a good chunk of our wedding gift money to buy a nice camera. A good camera is usually the number one thing I look for in a new phone.

With practice I’ve gotten better at taking pictures and have taken awesome photos like this:

But I also take pictures (all the time) like this:

It happens.

Add a toddler who CANNOT sit still and a husband who thinks it’s too awkward to pose for a picture and family pictures can be nightmare.

Keeping everyone happy and clean is even harder in an unfamiliar place.

Plus I’m always a bit nervous of a stranger who might run off with my camera (aka Mr. Bean and the camera thief)

So what’s the secret to family pictures like this??

Get someone else to do them!

Yep the same person you told you that you should only use a carry-on when travelling is here telling you to outsource it.

BUT get a great deal and make it as convenient as possible. (Keeping clothes wrinkle-free is hard enough!)

Here comes Flytographer to the rescue!

I started using them through a reference from another travel blogger friend (Molly at exploringthroughlife.com) because she has used them for her family travel photos for years.

I want to first say that this is NOT a sponsored post, I personally use and legitimately LOVE Flytographer for our travel photography. It’s just that great.

Three reasons I RAVE about and highly recommend Flytographer to my family and friends.

#1 They are such good quality

I mean look at these!

Look how fun it was and how (honestly) not-stressed I am during these photos! Sooo different than if I had done them myself. They would have been many bribes and tears.

We were able to work with the photographer Jackie and get gorgeous photos easily.

After the shoot you get the high-resolution digital copies and the rights to print them yourself!

Right after our trip I got three big photos printed to hang on our wall. I love them and get compliments all the time.

Get IKEA frames and engineering prints at FedEx (it’s just a few dollars!)

#2 The price for travel photos and portraits is stellar

Guys, the price was so unbeatable. I’ve paid way more money for much less quality shoots.

It starts at just $250 and goes up depending on how long you want the shoot to last and how many photos you want.

But the first time you use it I can get you $50 off using this link!

Honestly, with a toddler (and my non-photo-loving husband) I knew we wouldn’t last too long, and we only book 60 minute shoots. Which is the perfect length if you already have an idea of the pictures that you want.

So you can INCREDIBLE and perfect family photos of your vacation (to go along with all the selfies of course!) to print into books and Christmas ornaments or whatever you want… for $200!

100% one of the best uses of a vacation budget.

#3 They are so easy and convenient to use – everything is arranged through the app!

First of all, Flytographer has photo shoots available all over the world!

And it’s so easy, before you even arrive on your vacation you can have arranged all the details.

Look through the available photographers’ work and choose someone who’s style you love.

Choose the specific location(s) you want the photos to be taken. Flytographer recommends lots of great top locations and has example photos at each one. Or, you can request a different location if you have one in mind.

Choose how long of a photo session you want to have for your travel portraits, from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

When you have chosen all this you just request your shoot date with any specifications for the photographer.

The dates get accepted in 24-48 hours. There’s CONSTANT contact with the concierge if you need anything. We had a few questions and the concierge has extremely fast in replying and helpful.

When your date is confirmed by the photographer, you pay online and get in contact with them.

So before we even got to the UK we had confirmed dates, where to meet and already paid.

Our photographer in London was Jackie, and we loved her! We told her what we were looking for and she made some great suggestions for photo ideas. And she was AMAZING with 20 month Lincoln!

The finished photos came back so quickly we had them while still on vacation!

You’re probably not going to hire someone to follow you around for perfect photos of all the places you go. But make sure you at least have a few that really highlight your family in the new beautiful place you are exploring together. (And of course plenty of silly selfies to put in your travel book too!)
